Lanre Ajayi joins Glen Oaks Community College from Holyoke Community College where he was the executive director of professional education and corporate learning and oversaw the college’s in-demand contract workforce training programs, non-credit course offerings, and personal enrichment classes.
Before Holyoke, Ajayi was at Lake Michigan College (2010-2021) and held various academic and workforce-related positions including the director of the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center, manager of work-based learning, and coordinator of the Learning and Assessment Center. Prior to LMC, he was the Michigan Prisoner Re-Entry Initiative’s Job Specialist at Michigan Works where he coordinated vocational training programs in construction, welding, hospitality, and culinary arts at Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College.
Ajayi holds a master’s in counselor education from Western Michigan University and a bachelor’s in journalism from Suffolk University in Boston.
In 2008, Ajayi was recognized with the Gateway Partnership Award for his significant contributions to the community in “Improving the Quality of Life of Persons Served,” and he is a 2009 alumnus of the Lake Michigan College Community Leadership Academy. His community involvement includes past service on the boards of the Ferry Street School Resource Center, the City of Niles Planning Commission, and Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain, Boston.
“I look forward to working with the Glen Oaks staff, faculty, and community partners to innovate and adapt to support the educational success of our students and the ever-changing economic needs of our community,” said Ajayi.
